sometimes the solution, or at least the unlikely connection seems to appear when you started to do things that you should be doing. i don't know how to put this into proper words, hm. for example when you are trying to solve one question from advanced reaction engineering coursework, you can't really even figure out how to start tackling the problem - until you actually go through the lecture notes, tutorials, and do some further reading in reference books. note that that are the things you SHOULD be doing in the first place - even you don't have any coursework to submit.
